After earning his Master’s in Philosophy, JF transformed a summer job into a lifelong passion, shifting into the world of designing feature films and TV series. His academic background enables him to approach each project with a unique blend of creative vision, precision and artistry. Over the years he has also designed countless commercials, earning him numerous accolades, including a prestigious GOLD CANNES LIONS AWARD in Film Craft - Production Design for his work on 37 DAYS (Atlantic).
His recent film credits include THE MOTHER, directed by Niki Caro and starring Jennifer Lopez. On the TV side JF designed the acclaimed series ANNE WITH AN E created by Moira Walley-Beckett, earning two consecutive CSA Awards for Best Production Design.
With years of international experience spanning the USA, Europe (Germany, Spain, Canary Islands, Italy, Belgium), South Africa, New Zealand and Hawaii, JF is well-versed in global production landscapes. He holds an active US Work Visa and is a proud member of the Art Directors Guild (IA800) and the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC).
Most recently, JF designed CHIEF OF WAR, an ambitious historical series set in the 19th century Hawaiian kingdoms for Apple TV+. Created by Thomas Pa’a Sibett and Jason Momoa, who also stars in the series, it was shot in Hawaii and New Zealand.
